Hope & Grace
Paso Robles Lagrein
Juicy. There's a sense of blackberry/black cherry gum. Black cherry cola, black licorice anise, olallieberry pie, dark moist earth, chocolate cake with fruit & fudge frosting, dark fine minerality, shades of a port like character, liquid violets, crushed rocks, dry pebbles and very large round juicy to dry dark fruit finish. Reminds me of a very dark berry Gamay.

Sep 11th, 2016I have to give credit where credit is due! The rarest of combinations, A Paso Lagrein, from a winery in the heart of Napa?! Rarely do you find Italian varietals, grown outside their native land, that can give you depth and character. This one delivers, dark brooding fruit, savouriness, tannic delivery and a great finish. I want some cheese and I want it now! A great effort!

Mar 21st, 2016Dark, dark fruits, blue fruits, some spice and earth, savory, purple flowers, long elegant finish. Pair with a nice dry white cheese or wild boar per the staff at Hope and Grace.

Jul 19th, 2015100% Lagrein, grapes from Paso. How interesting to see this in a Napa tasting room, and not from Alto-Adige! Plummy yet meaty, with lower acid and higher tannins. Like a Barbera x Dolcetto yet somehow it works! Makes me hanker for some fruit, cheese, and charcuterie.

Jun 28th, 2015The smoothness and body of a merlot, but the spice of a Syrah or a Pinot. A fun wine to sip on a Thursday night. I think I'm getting a little anise or fennel on the finish.

Nov 7th, 2014So interesting and well done. A northern Italian grape grown in Paso from a Napa producer. Went well with my wife’s delicious vegetarian chili. Deep dark fruits, a little back end spice and sexy savory aroma.

Oct 2nd, 2018Really ballsy and unique wine. Today’s tasting in Yountville will go down as one of my favorites of all time. First I’d ever heard of this grape, grown in Paso. Black fruit covered in licorice. If you go (and I’d highly recommend it), go for the cheese pairing it’s well worth it.

Apr 4th, 2018I love this wine. Big and bold. Flavors at pooping. Only 15 barrels made so I'm going to go slow and savor it.
