The owners of Hobel Wines came to town and put on a nice tasting, while also detailing their history. Very nice people and wines. They make two wines, both Cabernets from Calistoga. TRB is the winemaker.
En mag. Nearly identical to the ‘16, but the upfront sweet/candied red fruit has shed a touch of its “baby fat”, and balances better with the black fruit and mint.

This was extremely perfumed showing a ton of sweet red fruit on the nose with potpourri. The same sweet red fruit really popped at the front palate (cherries jubilee, raspberry liqueur) but the mid palate seemed to thin out a tad. Someone mentioned mint, and I agree that there was an Andes mint type note carrying to the finish. Some cedar and blackberry rounded it out. Tasted like a cab/zin Blend.
