Great wine from a great producer. David Baverstock keeping it real with the native Portuguese varietals! Did I mention he has a 20acre vineyard planted with 188 different varietals ? Talk about an experiment

Big! This #wine is mostly if not all Cabernet, from a region in Portugal I don't know much about.

Slight alcohol overtones but balanced in mouth, needs decanter.

Dry Reds from Portugal are often overlooked. Great wine with grilled lamb.

Nice well structured. Notes from fresh fruit. Kind tannins, with ageing potential as many Portugal's wines

We decanted the wine for 30 minutes before we poured the first glass and it kept improving as time passed. The wine offered red and dark fruit, coffee, cocoa, vanilla and some liquorice on the nose. On the palate the wine showed red and dark fruit, chocolate, coffee, spices, vanilla and hints of liquorice and cocoa, paired with a mild spiciness, medium-level acidity, medium-plus slightly coarse but well-integrated tannin, moderate heat from the alcohol, a creamy mouthfeel and very good length. The oak has integrated better since my last bottle, but was still prominent. The full-bodied, medium-complex wine was reasonably balanced. Solid, but failed to excite me. I would recommend decanting for one hour. 88
