Henri Jayer
Échezéaux Grand Cru Pinot Noir

Henri et Georges Jayer Echezeaux 1998. Vines owned by Henri’s brother Georges. 2X with this wine. Richer and fuller in body(than the Jayer Cros Parantoux 1998 drunk alongside) and became silkier, more savory, and more elegant with time in decanter. Arguably not at apogee, although drinking fantastically now.

Was super wound up at first. Decanted and then the treat yourself express pulled into the station. The prices of Hankey J's wines are way to high but it's still a treat to drink them

The only flaw here was that this wine was tasted along with a '88 cros parantoux. Context, context, context.

Jul 17th, 2015Domaine Henri Jayer Echézeaux 1990: Get out your Pharrell-style ranger hat because this concentrated, full-bodied #wine transports you straight to the forest with its pronounced notes of underbrush and cedar. Joining this sous-bois character are big swathes of dark fruit and traces of leather. The mile-long finish evokes cedar and bone broth, a primal revitalizer if there ever was one. Despite its quarter-century of age, it is still lively and intriguing, still moving like Jagger.

Apr 15th, 2015Domaine Henri Jayer Echézeaux 1988: Lush and silky, bursting with sweet black fruit and a commanding, complex perfume of Asian spice, musk, and minerals. Wines from the late, legendary Henri Jayer represent a singularly heightened benchmark for Burgundy and Pinot Noir. They are Led Zeppelin conquering the Garden in 1973 or Kurt Cobain rasping behind the stargazer lilies: pure glory, glorious purity. beetroot and menthol on the nose, velvet on the tongue, and exhilaration in the heart. Wines like these make even the most law-abiding drinker contemplate a life on the lam.
