1978 Heitz Napa Cab. The only con against storage in an old damp cellar, is that sometimes a mouse will eat the label! Absolutely signing tonight. Still fresh, with lots of mint, sage and other botanicals/herbs typical of Heitz. Classic black fruit that was seriously strutting it's stuff. One of the best Napa bottles I've had in quite some time.

Very nice showing of older Napa Cab. '74 and '79 vintages get most of the decade acclaim, but most of the '78s I've had are stellar. Very clean, pure red fruit. Great balance. Elegant. Maybe not as deep or exotic as '78 Martha's, but a really nice wine.
