When we owned the wine store our key distributors knew we were ardent fans of much of the fruit coming off red mountain. Hedges Family has been a pioneer on sounding qpr wines for nearly 20 years and this 2011 is another superb example.
Just the right amount of dark fruit ripeness, aromatic earthy/fruit aromas and substantial finesse. Early on it seems bright but mid pallet is depth, concentration and wonderful mouth feel. Dominant grapes, 44% CS and33% Merlot really blend harmoniously and play off each other well. 16% Syrah provides further lift and intensity.
Really a delicious wine that won't break the bank.

Dec 8th, 2016Bordeaux blend; 44% Cab Sauv, 33% Merlot with Syrah, Malbec, and Cab Franc. Dried red and black fruit, wild herbs, soft and well integrated tannins. Low alcohol for new world, but I like that. It's showing well but any more time and it will probably start to deteriorate.
