101 year old vines. Needed a couple hours before it really showed up. Framboise, cracked pepper and some subtle, but creamy oak.

I am not a big Zin fan, but this is admittedly a very good effort. A dark ink-stained ruby wine, this one has an intriguing nose of raspberry, cherry, and blueberry, a sort of tuttifrutti if you will, overlaid with rose petals and exotic spice. On the palate the same fruit comes through with a touch of herbs, sufficient acid, and nicely rounded tannins. No sign of being cooked. One of the top Zins I have tasted in the last couple years.

Hanging tough, tart red fruit, soft tannins.

Drink now. Plenty of spice and punch, but gaining that later raisin Zin flavor. Still delicious.
