โ€œPee-tee Vur-doe โ€ is how you pronounce the red wine grape ๐Ÿ‡ Petite Verdot. Itโ€™s commonly found in Bordeaux where winemakers add it to blends to enhance the color, tannin and floral aromas in a wine. However itโ€™s pretty darn good on its own too ๐Ÿ˜œ

This example I received as a #freegift from Happs in WAโ€™s Margaret River region (thank you!!). Their Three Hills range is dedicated to not your typical grape varieties - instead something a little different - like this 2018 Petite Verdot.

Only 100 dozen bottles of this vintage have been produced and it retails for $38. The fruit was handpicked and the juice spent 13 days on the skins whilst being hand plunged. It was then aged in 50% new French oak barriques ๐Ÿ‘Œ

In the glass itโ€™s a deep thick red with a wonderful sweet perfume of black fruits, flowers and a hint of earthiness. In the mouth itโ€™s fresh and juicy with a wonderfully refreshing acidity. Think black plums and cherries ๐Ÿ’. Incredibly moreish.

This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
