Simple but pure Pinot Noir notes with a supple texture and beautiful wild strawberry fruit. The moderate alcohol makes this brilliant with spicy foods. Amazing value!

IT'LL DO;) I was first properly introduced to Romanian wines when I interviewed victorious '80 Oxford Wine-Tasting Team Captain Claudia Pendred (who on occasion writes for JancisRobinson.com), then working for the EBRD spending part-time in the country. On special (£6.99) picked up a bright cherry-purple Romanian Pinot Noir from the 'DEAL'urile Munteniei region. Waitrose own-label 2014, 13% abv. Young cherry-raspberry fruit, no complexity or tannins of note - light Beaujolais-ish body/weight and easy with a grilled chicken salad.
