Whole cluster Cote-Rotie comes to Cali.
With some air, this big beast smooths out.
N: Black plums, Charcoal, hummus, smoke, roses and cherries.
P: Dark fruits, charcoal, tar, balanced acidity, fills your mouth.
Only 13.2°
A keeper.
thanks @Firstbottlewines

Holy cow this is wonderful. Medium bodied but still packed with flavor. Very cote rotie like with notes of charcoal, dried meats and herbs complimenting the red tones fruits (raspberry, red currant and red plum)... long and fresh. Wonderful wine

If you like Northern Rhône, I dare you to find me a California Syrah that you’d like better. This is a sun-kissed version of a good Côte-Rotie - take out some of the rusticity and replace it with fruit, and you ha e this mineral driven wine with a mouthful of flowers, white pepper and violet. A little bacon and meat and olive are missing, to my tastes, and these are somewhat more present in the Alturas bottling. But this is on the elegant side. Good long term upside here.

Cote-Rotie comes to The Yorkville Highlands!
N: I opened and let air for 2,hrs while I went about a lamb pulao.
The nose is a bit reticent, only hinting at its black/red core. As it airs out, lots of black plums, pepper, and some treacle.
P: yea that delivers the tarry black/red wonderful tactileness*, coats your palate deliciously like you may think there’s a bottom. Fresh beam of acidity keeps things fresh. Best bottle so far. Coal tar.
Thanks @FirstBottleWines
Day 2: More open knit, some cocoa, red moves into black. Acidity still persistent.
