Guenoc
Victorian Claret North Coast Red Blend
Guenoc/Langtry are constantly changing their labels and branding, not that this is confusing to their consumers or anything 😾
Still, this Claret is reliable vintage after vintage; a triumph of the vinting and mixing arts over the slings and arrows thrown by outrageous nature.
This wine has the expected slight oak with cherry mocha fruits and a smooth drinkable body.

Dark ruby in color with a wide purplish rim.
Nice nose of black currants, blackberries, cherries, vanilla, wood, spices, peppercorn, green herbs, light vegetables and spices.
Medium bodied with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with cherries, strawberries, red currants, oak, smoke, spices, coffee and peppercorn.
Medium plus in body with nice rounded tannins and black pepper.
This is a nice, entertaining red blend from California. A good everyday sipper and a good food wine too. Showing mild complexity, but not fully balanced.
I paired it with a cheese flatbread.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
$13.

Too much clunky oak IMHO on day one. Day two it had integrated a little more

Rather sophisticated for the style and price. Black and red fruit. Light toast. Light tannins. Pleasant and food worthy. $10 This kind of professional wine California can do all day long.
