Guenoc
Guenoc Valley Petite Sirah
Dark purple in color with a short purple rim.
Fruity nose of blueberries, plums, cherries, licorice, oak, vanilla, wildflowers, figs, earth, light vegetables, dark chocolates, herbs, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Medium to full bodied with medium plus acidity and nice legs.
Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, black currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, coffee, pencil lead, earth, vegetables, graphite, bitter herbs and peppercorn.
Short finish with green tannins and black pepper.
This is a nice Petit Sirah from California. Showing mild complexity and a nice mouthfeel, but not fully balanced. Fruity with chocolate and earth notes.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (30 minutes) and shows the tannins.
Inexpensive and good for everyday.
I paired it with heavy appetizers.
13.5 % alcohol by volume.
86 points.
$12.

This is a full bodied take on Petit Sirah, full of dark currant and black pepper spiciness, and lots of blackberry complexity to the lingering finish.

Jun 29th, 2017I’m going to make this review so non-professional wine drinkers can understand.
This PS is good, but very-very light. Nothing sticks out to me as special compared to other Sirahs I’ve tried. I’d recommend this to new wine drinkers trying to get into dry reds. About what you’d expect for $8.
