1888 California Petite Sirah
Deep purple in color with a purplish rim.
Fruity nose with black currants, plums, barnyard, wood, cloves, spices, peppercorn, vegetables, bell pepper, earth and bitter herbs.
Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, bell pepper, oak, licorice, cloves, earth, vegetables, graphite, spices, chocolates, tobacco, bitter herbs and black pepper.
Medium plus on the finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a nice Petit Sirah from California. Not fully balanced and a little harsh, but very drinkable even by itself.
Good right out of the bottle (but very Stinky) and better as it opens up. Better after 1 hour of airtime.
Inexpensive, good for everyday and good for parties. It has a screw top which is handy the beach or picnics.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
85 points.
$9.

Tonight’s the night for a hearty supermarket red. Medium extracted pigment, purple in color. Butter, eucalyptus, berry and maybe vegetal notes in nose. Clean, no barnyard. Blueberry, blackberry and cola flavors, tart, moderate chewy tannins initially; needs time to open. Reasonable pour for the dollar

Light nose of black currants, cherries, strawberries, wood, licorice, earth, vanilla, vegetables, chocolates, spices and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with high acidity and long legs.
Bone dry on the palate, and tart, with cherries, pomegranate, strawberries, cranberries, earth, vanilla, cedar, graphite, dark chocolates, coffee, bell pepper, bitter herbs and peppercorn.
Tart finish with round tannins and pomegranates.
This 3 year old, is already on its way out. Not too much on the fruits side, and now it became very earthy.
This wine needs to be consumed while it's fresh. It reminds me a lot of a an inexpensive Merlot based Bordeaux.
Better with food, but I enjoyed it paired with the sunset, all by itself.
