Although noticeably more complex, with prune, date, dark fruit and tart raisins, I do miss the boldness of the young wines. Perhaps this wasn't the best representation, but this wine tastes like it's in a weird phase.

Hard to imagine now, but the 1985 vintage of this wine was the first 100 point score given to a California wine in the Wine Advocate. Still delicious stuff.

Ate with porterhouse steak with bone in. Great texture, structure and smooth tannins. Would definitely drink again with food and friends.
