Greenock Creek
Seven Acre Shiraz
The score is very dependent on how you approach wine. Being that this is 18%ABV, you have to look at other aspects of the wine at 17yrs old instead of focusing on the heat. Love their Roenfeldt Rd Shiraz.
Followed over two days, consistent on both. Color is still incredibly dark red, hardly any bricking. For the ABV, it doesn’t come across hot aromatically…little coconut from the American oak, prunes, soft baked fig, uber ripe red and black fruits. On the palate, it’s richly textured showing mixed berry pie, blackberry preserves/jam initially before it channels a port-like liqueur finish. Initially had with TX smoked pork and brisket, the pairing was exquisite.

Last Friday was our normal 4th Friday happy hour at the storage facility, but since this month had 5 Fridays, why not keep the party going?!
@Benjamin Keator is getting me hooked on Australia wines. This was so freaking good. No Velvet Glove here...extracted, but not overly so. Black and blue fruit dominant, but it didn't overshadow the herbal notes, the bite of the funky clay/earth, or the mint I always associate with Australian Shiraz. Loved it.

Dec 30th, 2014Time has put a bit of prudence and elderly wisdom in this once burly, high-octane Barossa Shiraz. Don’t get me wrong, there is still a big black core of macerated fruit and generously dosed oak as well. Yet the aromatics and structure of this wine are open knit and transparent now, so we can clearly pick up notes of cinnamon, caramel, dried rose-petals, humidor and allspice.
This is perfectly Mature now. Sensible. Friendly. Complex and nuanced. Simply Delightful.

Boys nite Nov 18 - Alfred bottle. Less bubble gum compare other vintages. Balanced and overall enjoyable

Nov 30th, 2018Black tar, licorice, little bit of fig on the nose and palate. This wine would have been best enjoyed alone vs in a lineup like this. Would have loved to have opened this up alongside a buffalo ribeye or saucy game dish. Better after an hour of being open but initially the notes on this one are a bit muted and very VERY dark. Given some oxidation this one shows well, but unfortunately Dan's potato chips and wasabi nuts were not the best to make this shine appropriately.

Mar 3rd, 2018I think greenock wines are not my cup of tea. Classic note of soy sauce, a greenish note and bubble gum. I am sure some will like this style but just not me
