Grand Napa Vineyards
Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Pretty nose of blue and black fruits with wood, chocolates, tobacco, Indian spices and herbs.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, sweet cherries, tobacco, chocolates, oak, coffee, spices and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This young Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville is starting to drink very nicely now. Still young but already very approachable.
Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel. Elegant and fruit forward, but not very rich. The high alcohol is well integrated already.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after an hour of airtime, when the pretty nose shows up.
I've had the 2020 vintage not too long ago, and loved it too.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years.
Spicy and entertaining. Soft, smooth and elegant. Good by itself as a sipping wine. Delicious.
A blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. Aged in (50% new) French Oak barrels for 22 months. A limited release.
14.7% alcohol by volume.
92 points.
$135.

It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Dark ruby/ Inky in color with a short reddish rim.
Fruity nose of light oak, chocolates, black fruits, coffee, tobacco leaf, herbs and peppercorn.
Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruit forward on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cherries, spices, oak, light vanilla, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, light earth and red chili pepper.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville in Napa Valley. Elegant and very spicy. Tangy and interesting.
Still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but already enjoyable, even as a sipping wine.
Rich, but not extracted. Not 'in your face' kind of wine.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years. Has good potential to become a 93+ point wine.
Needed 3 hours to open up properly, so be patient. Showing nice complexity, once it opens up, with good structure.
Not many good wines from Napa from this vintage, and this is a nice surprise.
I paired it with a Moroccan Lamb dish.
A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. Aged in (50% new) French Oak barrels for 22 months. Limited release.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
92 points.
$75.
