Really great. Subtle, but beautiful older world style. Great earth on the nose. Gentle, well-integrated tannins. The earthy-ness deepened and improved throughout the night. I look forward to trying it on a Day two. By far the best QPR of the night.
Drank this w a couple other nice cabs during the night (a great fruity WA example (Fielding Hills Estate Select) and a big, beautiful tannic classic example (Boudreaux Cellars reserve). This was definitely good and more my style than the big hitter (2008 Boudreaux Reserve). It just couldn't keep up w the gorgeous tannins and big, pure fruit balance of the Boudreaux, all in all. They are in different categories stylistically, but both beautiful wines in their own way.
Day two: I would t call this "subtle". Killer wine. Delicious. Just not big tannins. Wow. Beautiful work.

Nail polish remover, cassis on the nose. Plenty ripe on the palate, black fruit, very soft tannins, hot finish.

Aromas of earthy cherry and some oak. Complex body with medium finish. Tastes of cherry and tobacco that is well blended and aged. Medium finish.

Apr 9th, 2016First, I had a lot of anise on the nose. The coating had some stickiness on the back tongue but at the same time deeply satiny. Along with the previous tasters, I enjoyed this wine more on the second day. The anise settled into more of a classic vegetal nose. Some oily petrol and nasturtium with bits of juniper lingered on the palate. The ripe blue and black fruit presence was so balanced with the tannin that it felt savory more than sweet. When the bottle finished, it was like closing a book and wishing the story would keep going on into the next day.
