A bit too bitter/acidic for my taste. Update 106 weeks after initial review: a usual. Delish.

Reminiscent of Cotes du Rhone. Delicious and a little spicy!

Had the 2008. Powerful with spice. Bought at Mitsukoshi for ¥3,300.

Balanced and smooth, with a long dry finish. Very satisfying red from one of the only two Umbria DOCG denominations. My first wine of Sagrantini grapes, so positively impressed. Had the 2008 vintage.

Received this wine as a gift. Enjoyed it with prime rib. Definitely tasting ripe berries and leather...really nice. Stood up well against the salty beef. Very up-front wine with short, clean finish. I will look for this on the shelf in the future.

The hidden gem jammed with savory flavor. This tannic wonder is very complex, mostly with peppery old leather, but dry red fruit tones are opening up in a second glass. The Sagrantino is not well known but it should be, it ages with a fascinating power.

2005年。パワフルだけどエレガント。タンニンも丸くなってて、正に飲み頃。

A 2004! Excellent, medium but long finish! Sagrantino is the Sangiovese of Umbria!
