First red wine at Table #4 at Oakton Wine Shops Bucket List Tasting.

Medium to deep garnet red. Stinky attack on the nose with dark spices, and perfumey flowers. Medium tannins (5.5/10) and medium plus bodied. Layered palate with spices, dirt, cherries, violets and a bit papery. Solid acidity and dry long finish. Drink till 2024.

The 2009 was a winner of the Virginia Governor's Cup. This really needed time to come into its own. The nose is full of tobacco, mint, black currant, and dark fruits. The tannins are silky and the finish is fairly long. I wish I had hung into a few more bottles.

375 mL. 69 Cab 21 Merlot 10 PV. This is unlike any Virginia red I've had - rich, ripe, oaky, tannic, even hot. I'm curious if that was a result of the vintage or if this is the house style. This was almost very good, but wasn't totally dialed in

Nose of black cherry, plums, and slight funk. Deep ruby color, alcohol is medium, body medium plus, dark fruit on the palate with some pomegranate hints. Finish very persistent. Acidity excellent and tannins are very fine. Bravo.

Consistently one of the best Bordeaux blends in Virginia. Still very young with dark black fruit, this 69% Cab blend has very refined tannins.
