None of the massive 2017 tannins, quite elegant.

Dense crimson with a tawny rim - the colour of cold black tea. Tarry dusty aromatic nuances, somewhat intoxicating in this excellent vintage. Menthol, Balsamic aromas and a note of dried meat. Fine resolved tannins. So easy to drink. Medium plus intensity. Like most Italian wines designed to accompany food but this was so good and rich you could have it on its own.

This Barolo showed well, plenty of fruit and bold. I recommend decanting.

This wine pours a clear rust red. It has aromas of leather on the nose. It has flavors of dried fruit that are restrained a bit. Strong structured tannins were present which I think is a trade mark. We decanted the wine for about 90 minutes first. It went very well with the grass fed ribeyes and lobster we cooked for my son-in-law’s birthday. That said, I was expecting more. I really thought it would blow me away and it didn’t. It was good, just not great. I don’t think it was too expensive at Costco. Although I got it before I kept track of how much I paid for wines. #barolowine #nebbiolo #piedmontwines #italianwines #costcowines

Could use a tad bit more age, but showing potential.

Ruby color. Medium bodied. Cherry, menthol, & earthy flavors. Moderately tannic.

Not sure why WS gave this Barolo a 95. It’s cooking wine at best...
