I was so spoilt on this trip to #Sydney as @nomief brought so many goodies over from WA for us to sip on. Including this Gilberts 2017 Riesling from Mount Barker in Western Australia’s Great Southern wine region.

I found the 2017 a pale lemon and lime shade with lemon citrus, charred orange peel, spiced apples and florals on the nose. In the mouth it’s über refreshing and crisp. It actually reminded Naomi and I of a lemon tart 🍋 with its fruitiness yet it was deliciously dry. We took it to dinner at a dumpling house just up the road from our Airbnb 🥟🥂👌

Taste Great Southern starts this week so it's only natural a wee Great Southern tipple was in order to celebrate. I've tried various vintages of the Gilbert's Riesling at numerous wine festivals so when I spotted it for a twenty dollar note at the Chateau Guildford Cellarbrations - I couldn't resist!
It's yellow with a green hue on the eye with a super fresh and vibrant bouquet full of peas in the pod, limes and it simply made me think of all yummy green things! In the mouth it's uber smooth yet refreshing with flavours of apples and candied lemons. It's a beauty!
