To start the weekend I have opened the 2013 Gilbert Cellars Columbia Valley Left Bank Red Blend. This homage to the classical Left Bank Bordeaux even though Carmenere isn't used in a Bordeaux these days but years ago it was part of the blend. This blend is 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 8% Carmenere, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petit Verdot.

The nose has good dark fruit, blackberry, black cherry, black currant, red raspberry, black pepper, licorice, charcoal, graphite, violet, some alcohol, and crushed gravel.

On the palate there are notes of blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, black currant, green bell pepper, cassis, vanilla, and wet slate.

This wine is medium to full bodied with medium + acidity, medium + grippy fine tannins and a long balanced finish. Have a safe weekend and enjoy family. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷

A Bordeaux style blend that really delivers, this wine has all levels of cherry, currant, and coffee flavors, lingering in a dusty tannic finish.

Welcome Friday! Breaking out a Bordeaux Blend from Columbia Valley to relax the long work week. 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 8% Carmenere, 8% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot.

The nose brings out notes of blackberry, kirsch, black plum, cassis, fennel and a bit of tar.

The palate I get notes of blackberry, dried cherries, cassis, herbs, green pepper, and slate.

This is a medium bodied wine well blended and balanced with medium + acidity, medium + tannins with a smooth mouth feel.

Very approachable now and a pleasant wine for a relaxing evening.

Took a while to open but really nice once it got there. Great fruit in here but Lacked the depth I was hoping for, but nice nonetheless!

Initial fruit that wants to open up to medium body. Was told it was fuller body, but drinkable before dinner
