The 2019 Barolo Cerretta has shut down considerably since I last tasted it, but the elements are also more put together in that the wine is a harmonious whole rather than a combination of individual components. This is a dark and layered bueaty of a wine, showing crushed stone, black cherry, dried roses, and exotic spice. With time in the glass it gained depth, adding rich raspberry, hints of moist soil and truffle. Displaying mineral-driven, silky textures contrasted by a core of vibrant acidity on the palate. Black cherry, licorice, sweet herbs and menthol all flowed effortlessly across the senses. It finished on fine tannin with dried cherry and inner floral tones lingering long.
