Giacomo Borgogno & Figli
Barolo Nebbiolo
Rustic. Rich earthy leather, roses, tart cherry. Surprisingly drinkable. Needs some food.

Dec 2nd, 2015Dark cherry liqueur like fruit with pretty rose petal floral notes black tar and licorice spice a classic Barolo. A big wine but has elegance and finesse. Most excellent

Sep 18th, 2013We'll structured and surprisingly rich in cherried fruit compote flavors. Dried purple florals, worn leather, decaying leaves. Great Integration and balance that will persist for many more years in a cellar.

Sep 18th, 2016Beautiful color. Nice acid and full leather could probably hold another 5 years but with a little air it is beautiful!

Jan 2nd, 2016Dramatic evolution from the first sip to last. Initial cough syrup turned into brambly wild cherry with nice tannin.

Sep 6th, 2015Tar, violet, licorice as it developed. Cherry was prominent at first and then the more complex flavors started coming through. Too young to drink now but still tasted quite nice with duck.

Sep 6th, 2015Decanted, and it really opened up after about an hour: black olives, grilled meat, dry hay and dried oregano (yeah,I said "hay"),stewed tomatoes , tart black cherry and a hint of iodine. This Barolo was excellent with the Italian meatballs I had with a side of burrata in a bright tomato sauce. It also played well with the hubby's beef short rib. Very enjoyable and robust enough to pair with just about any Italian dish involving tomato sauce and meat.
