Ghost Pines
Winemaker's Blend Cabernet Sauvignon
This 7 year old is still drinking beautifully. What a great surprise.
Showing a really nice nose with lots of complexity.
Dry on the palate with a smooth mouthfeel.
Showing blackberries, black currants, cooked cherries, raisins, dried figs, light vanilla, tobacco, dark chocolates, light cola, cedar, spices, light earth and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
Showing nice complexity, easy drinking and good for parties.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after an hour of airtime, when tannins show up, and bring good structure to the wine.
This is another one of my experiments. I bought a few of these to try them once a year, and see how they evolve. This is my last bottle of this vintage, but it looks like it still has a lot in it.
Good by itself or with food. I paired it with BBQ Meats.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
92 points.

Although I usually avoid Martini wines, this one was a pleasant surprise. A very good balance of fruit, oak and tannin. Blackberry is the predominant fruit. When the wine opens up the finish has a small amount of cigar smoke , vanilla oak and dark chocolate....And of course a surprise spice finish. Odd to be this strong (for a cab) in Cabernet, but welcomed.

This Cabernet Sauvignon from California is drinking very nicely now as a 4 year old, with nice complexity and mouthfeel.
Good right out of the bottle and very fruity. Better after 90 minutes of airtime, when tannins and some more structure come in. Good by itself as a sipping wine.
