Purchased at the domaine. About 15 years ago they planted two rows of Orleans in the berg Schlossberg vineyard. Beyond difficult to track down other than at the estate (only about 200 bottles are produced a year). Way more subdued than Riesling and with that same peachy spearmint note, but waxier and also showing a savory side you'd find with grapes like Silvaner or Gruner. A cool wine from one of the most dynamic estates in the Rheingau.

Orleans is a rare white wine grape variety grown in small proportions in Pfalz, Germany.
As a wine, Orleans has distinctive pineapple aromas and a slight spiciness. It shows excellent aging potential but, as it can be challenging in the vineyard, it is consequently quite unpopular with winemakers.
