This is the G.D. Vajra Rosa Bella (2023). It was made from mostly Nebbiolo grapes and, to a lesser extent, Dolcetto and Barera.
It has a beautiful combination of freshness and vivacity with bright red-berried, hibiscus, watermelon rind, and oyster shell characteristics. It’s crisp and delicious with medium alcohol (13.5% ABV) and bright acidity.
The winemaker’s tasting notes refer to a “sapidity” in this wine, which is defined as “a pleasant flavor,” but I have now learned that in winespeak this means a pleasing saline, mineral, and savory quality, which is absolutely evident in this glass.
