An Italian night with another Total Wine holiday purchase. The Vernaccia grape is a classic Italian white grape that, while it's popularity has waned, has seen a resurgence in drinkability lately. Vernaccia grown in San Gimignano, situated on lush hillside in Tuscany, was the first Italian wine to receive DOC status and eventually DOCG in 1993. On the eyes: Light translucent straw yellow, starbright, no stain, light legs.
On the nose: Meyer lemon rind with hints of hay and bitter root vegetable. Med- alcohol.
On the tongue: Med acid, med- tannin, med- alcohol. Unripe lemon wrapped in a light herbaceous blanket with hints of oak yielding to a slightly bitter mineralty. Low complexity but the price point makes it worth it.

Light lemony and grassy. Smooth. Didn't expect alcohol of 13%. Easy drinking on a hot day.

Very light straw, almost white with tropical fruit and floral aromas. The palate was crisp with melon and lemon flavors, very light almost bland. Short finish. Tasting Sample.

Vernacchia- pale straw coloration. On the nose, apple, minerals, honey and pear. On the palate, soft on the palate, apple, honey, minerals and pear with a finish of lemon/ citrus and oak. refreshing.

Fruity, bright acidity. Nice with salad. Also played nice with key lime teacake—both the sweetness of cake and tartness of lime.
