Ok, this one has been tucked away long enough to try another bottle. It’s the wife’s 21st annual 29th birthday, so let’s be bold! We went to this vineyard in 2014 and picked up several of these bottles, even though our palette was already toast for the day. You could still taste something good to come. Some smokiness and earthiness at first. Then the black cherry and mocha dryness came next. Nice finish. I still think there is a good 10 years to go on this vintage, so I will be back in 5 years for the next opening.

Excellent for the vintage. We loved it.
Huge tannins and bright acidity.

Store this one away in the cellar. Tremendous concentration of flavor now. Fantastic length and sharp acidity. So round and velvety considering the smattering of flavors on the palate. New world dark berries meets tobacco, spice and big tannin. I would love to taste this in 5 years, and again in 10.

Booooooozy but we just did a lineup of 7% Rieslings so I guess that makes sense.
