Galante Vineyards
Kick Ass Cabernet Cabernet Sauvignon
This entry level Galante red is still holding up well 7 years later. The nose is leather, cranberry, menthol, and cigar box. Tart blackberry, tart raspberry, cranberry, tobacco, leather, black pepper, and black tea on the palate. Medium to medium plus tannins, medium alcohol, and high acid. Excellent bang for the buck.

Jan 7th, 2020I like a little Brett on the nose, but this is pushing the envelope and getting close to a flaw. I have drunk this vintage over the several years and found it to be a compact and drinkable value cab in the 8.8 rating range. It’s starting to lose structure and go from bright fruit to dusty fruit. The acid is holding up, but the fruit fades from the middle onward. I think the 2013 vintage is sliding past its prime.

Oct 27th, 2018What it says. A tart Cab blend with leather notes. At this price point a perfect party wine.

Sep 13th, 2018Tangy and tart with pepper building through the finish. Leather throughout with chewy tannins and solid acid lingering.

Apr 27th, 2018I definitely got the advertised "saddle leather" scent (I likened it to more of an old leather shoe). I don't get the blueberry cobbler flavor and there's something off putting about the finish. Maybe I just can't get past the old leather. I do, however, appreciate the full bodied aspect of the wine.

Jan 1st, 2018Leather and black pepper in the nose. On the palate you get tangy and tart from start to finish - cranberry, strawberry, cedar with black pepper. The black pepper lingers with medium plus acid and medium tannins in the finish. No nuance here, but priced for a decent party wine to match an outdoor grilling or BBQ event.
