Dec 26th, 2015Best bottle of this I’ve had. Aromatically so wonderful and deep. Would never have guessed it’s 25 years from the nose or the color. Tannins are still very present - decanted 2 hours but could use years more. Incredible acid and fruit and earth with a very long finish. Great pairing with eggplant stuffed with lamb for New Year’s Eve. Happy New Years!

Jan 1st, 2024Absolutely wonderful. Lots of sediment and a medicinal note on cork pop which faded with a 2 hour decant which I recommend. Excellent with a lovely grilled ribeye to kick off grilling season.

Mar 25th, 2023Lovely tonight. Have been fortunate enough to have several bottles of this over the years. Somewhere between the “traditional” and “modern” Piedmont style, but undoubtably delicious and very recognizable as nebbiolo. Definitely somewhat exuberant on both the nose and the palate. Seamless and well integrated with 1.5 hours of air. Excellent refreshing and lifting acid. Long finish. Perfect pairing with double cut lamb chops.

Nov 27th, 2021Gaja on a Tuesday night...why not. Not quite as good as the last bottle we had, the heat and ripeness and oak all comes through just a bit more. But the nose alone is incredible - so much deep dark ripe red fruit. Excellent mouthfeel and mid palate fruit, it’s just the finish that isn’t quite all there (other than the acid). The tannins are notably chewy and drying.

May 27th, 2020Really in a beautiful place. Definitely still give it a 1-2 hour decant, the aromas start to sing. I know this is slightly more “modern” in these late 90s years for Gaja but this still screams nebbiolo to me. Crimson in the glass, lots of dark red fruit, some eucalyptus tannins with decent acid. Aromatically beautiful and the finish is just very nice. Delicious wine.
