Dec 29th, 2021My wine tonight is the 2017 Gaja Ca'Marcanda Magari. This is from the Bolgheri region of Italy. This is a blend of 60% Cabernet Franc, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot.
The nose has notes of sweet strawberry, cherry, raspberry, spice, mint, menthol, brambles and crushed gravel.
On the palate there is cherry, raspberry, sweet strawberry, green bell pepper, cassis, black currant, herbs cedar, chalkiness and crushed gravel.
This wine is medium to full bodied that is velvety and a medium + acidity and medium + to high grainy fine round tannins that move seamlessly to a long red fruit dry earthy finish. Smooth and Silky. Not much on the nose, but entry and finish made up for that. Dinner in NYC with B @ catch steak May have seen #28 Curtis Martin NYJ as well.

Still very closed and difficult to rate, difference with the Promis doesn’t justify the difference in price. Hopefully time will bring the nuances needed...
