Mountains Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
#AgedWineTuesday
Dark purple in color with a short purple rim. Not showing age at all.
On the nose blackberries, blueberries, currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, spices, vegetables, bitter herbs, graphite, chocolates, earth, celery, peppercorn and tobacco. Great complexity on the nose.
Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with plums, currants, cedar, earth, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, bell pepper, vegetables, tobacco, celery, peppercorn, dark chocolates and coffee.
Nice finish with fine grained tannins.
This is a very tasty Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel. Earthier than I expected it to be at this point.
I had this vintage 5 years ago, and it seems better now, although I figured that much of the vegetable notes will go away by now. Nose is much nicer than the palate.
This 10 year old needs 3 hours to open up properly, although much fruitier right out of the bottle.
Thank you Sean for sharing this with me.
Peaking now and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.
I paired it with light appetizers.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in French oak barrels (65% new). A small production of only 7 barrels.
14.8% alcohol by volume.
92 points.
$75.
