Loibner Loibenberg Smaragd Grüner Veltliner

Phenomenal. Just a bit of RS and roundness. Super typical. Lentils for days.

Aug 12th, 2016Yes it's Smaragd, but really pushing the ripeness bar a bit too far here... Hides the fruit and mineral character. Glossy and viscous.

2012 vintage. Smaragd. Lemon oil, peaches, apricots, almonds, and lime. River rocks, lush texture with notes of creme brûlée med+ acidity ++finish. Great wine!

Intriguing wine. Would have picked as a Chardonnay in a blind tasting. Notes of pear.
Some honeysuckle on palate. Initially some zesty acidity which had gone on the 2nd day. Very Enjoyable. Drink next in a few years. 18. 2010 vintage.

Delicious. High minerality factor. Classic peppery grassy Gruner.

Firstly, let me state that I preferred the happy-face-sliding-scale over this current, definitive 6.1-10 point scale here in delectable, so I will hold out on ratings with the hope that the old scale returns.
This is a great Gruner, btw. But very intense, deeply golden and serious. This isn't your father's light, grassy Gruner. It's bold and complex. 😉
