Superb balance of savory, floral and fruity elements, acid and texture! Hitting all those notes. Nose has a hint of petrol and floral character and then the palate is major fruit; yellow raspberries, gooseberry, apple, jasmine, clover honey, hay, custard. Brisk fruit snaps into savory acid and a long finish. And the texture is silky; more weight than many a Mosel Riesling in this price range. So good!

Sep 1st, 2018Love these wines. Touch of CO2, hint of reduction. Sonnenheur is a sundial in the center of Juffer, planted at an 85 degree angle above the ville of Brauneberger. The village was renamed in the 1700’s to reflect the brown slate soil of the hill that dominates the landscape. The vineyard was planted in the 1600’s and largely managed and run by 3 “spinster” sisters until the Haag family started farming it in the 1700’s.
