Freycinet Vineyard
Tasmania Pinot Noir
Bright mid crimson in colour. A lovely perfume as you would expect from a top Tasmanian Pinot with 10 years of age. Interesting to compare this to the 2009 Ata Rangi I had a week ago. The AR was more Burgundian and a tad more enjoyable. Following night for the Freycinet - dried cherries and “old lady’s talcum powder” on the nose. Supple mouth feel. Medium plus intensity.

May 10th, 2019After decanting initial notes of honeycomb. A good combination of root vegetable notes and savoury red fruits. Great palate intensity without weight. An excellent example of a 10 year old Tasmanian Pinot. Freycinet is on the East Coast of Tasmania and their Pinot Noir is a regular purchase for me. Capable of ageing for 15 years plus.

Mar 6th, 2019Full round spicy with cherry and some stewed plum flavours. In the same vein as Central Otago but not as big a fruit bomb - more detuned. History of long life with this Wine. I have had bottles of Freycinet over 10 years old and very enjoyable.

Dec 20th, 2017Mid Ruby in Color. Notes of plum and violet. Luscious and savoury at the same time. A generosity of flavour like Otago NZ in some respects. Still a little latent even at 7 years of age. Freycinet Pinots are made to last 10+ years and this will do that easily. Soft and supple - an excellent Pinot Noir - one of Australia's best.

Dec 7th, 2016One of my favourite Aussie Pinot Noirs. Never disappoints. Spicy sappy cherry aromas. Soft tannins but sufficient acid to cellar. Always a reliable cellaring proposition. Delicious, as a word, can be overused but this is truly delicious and an excellent wine. Gold medal quality.

Aug 7th, 2016Aromatic notes of cherries and spice. Latent power. Soft silky tannins as always with a solid core of fruit. Yet to develop fully. These are designed to last 20 years. One of my favourite Aussie Pinots.
