Holy Sh&t! One is always nervous when they open a bottle that is 50 years old. I knew provenance and storage was pristine. The color was spot on. The nose is a symphony of fruit. The palate is as if one was drinking marmalade that provides a sensation of sweet and sour notes. Opulent but pure velvet in the mouth providing an endless finish. Perhaps what was most astounding was the freshness. This wine is immortal!

TA was incredible in this blind - the bottle colour was a dead giveaway for the region, but to have centred in on Pradikat and vintage as quick as he did was a feat to behold. Crazy! Langwerth von Simmern 1978 Hattenheimer Nussbrunnen Eiswein-Beerenauslese. Still holding on to a wicked amount of acidity, even though it was a touch “dirty”. More intellectual than pleasurable.
