Medium ruby color with aromas of ripe red fruits and elegant hints of floral. The palate brings fruit forward with cherry, raspberry and hints of fig tastes. Tannins are fine and round, a tad young with high acidity noted. The finish is medium, smooth and ends with earthy mineral notes. Very nice. Needs time.

Giving this an extra boost because it’s so affordable for Barolo. I’m a fan of the spine of 2012’s but this carries a little plushness to it that I find so appealing in its youth. Morello cherry, Santa Rosa plum, alpine flowers, fern, mint, sweet brown spices, balsam, dark rocks and tar. There’s an appealing “sweet-ness” to the character that makes it so enjoyable now. Great acid, fine tannin that carry some sleekness. A great wine for this rainy night in Napa.

What a Barolo! Simply delicious. A 2012 that drinks like a '98. Highly recommend.
