Franck Bonville
Brut Grand Cru Champagne Blend
Avize, Côte des Blancs, Champagne, France

A 375ml Brut I’ve had awhile. I drink primarily Extra Brut these days. While it is just over 8g dosage, it doesn’t seem as sweet as some other lower dosage Brut’s I’ve had here & there lately. Doesn’t mean I don’t wish it was less sweet.
Trying it with a little Companion Bakery-Light & Fluffy Sourdough. Sampling the Promontory Olive Oil I was gifted at the Winery Wednesday. I’ve had really good Olive Oil’s from/in Italy & Spain. Theirs holds it own nicely. Smooth with a perfect soft kick at the end. Poured a splash of Tondo Balsamic from Tuscany. Wonderful stuff.
The palate shows; green & golden apples, some yellow & white stone fruits, lime & lemon pulp w/ zest, green melon, kiwi & light green melon, the fruit bits in marmalade, honey notes, soft caramel, vanillin, ginger ale, hints of mint, yeasty note to baguette crust, grey volcanics, white spice, nice chalkiness with tiny bits, limestone, sea spray/fossils, yellow flowers/lilies, spring flowers with greens, well balanced/knitted with a round, elegant, polished finish that lasts 90 seconds that lands on mid intensity spice & minerals.
Blend of 2019-20. Disgorged 12/22.

Good value cuvée. This has gone up just like all Champagne. Better at $35 than $45. But, still worth a few bottles mixed into your regiment.
Bruised; green & red apple, Bosc pear. Some apple cider, lime zest, tropical melons, white peach, pineapple juice, shades of lemon meringue, caramel notes, light vanilla, gritty chalk presses the tongue, white spice, sea spray, bread dough, baguette crust, nice yeastiness, yellow & white spring florals, crisp acidity and well balanced, structured, tensioned and roundly polished finish that lasts 90 seconds.
From 375ml. Blanc de Blanc. Dosage 8.3 grams. A touch high for me these days. But, tolerable.

Clean, crisp, and pairs well with anything or great on its own.

Aug 18th, 2026nose is effusive, with baguette, white flowers, and a nice salinity, while the flavors have a fine balance of white fruit, cream, and precise Avize chalk. Pale yellow in color, the wine has a lovely perfume with hints of peach and citrus and faint floral nuances accented by a kiss of vanilla. Creamy and very flavorful, this is a Champagne that is very harmonious showing subtle hints of peach, citrus, and spice. Elegant and long on the finish
