Definitely CA Pinot. Smell and taste of bright fruit gives it away. Better than most I've had. I still prefer earthy Oregons, but this is good and worth buying.

Friendly and approachable and hovering around $15. Very easy drinking–concentrated fruits with a hint of jam to it, but with enough acidity to hold it together. Juicy black cherries and a hint of vanilla, perhaps a touch of floral notes in background. Good value find. Enjoyed it with a beef, mushroom and mixed veggie stir-fry.

Geeky details: Hand-harvested, neutral and once-used French oak barrels. Winery is about five miles from the coast and soils contain fossilized oyster beds, along with coarse sands and calcareous shale.

Slightly sour, medium bodied, easy to drink, a bit acidic and refreshing, medium tannin. Would buy again.
