Another 4th Friday for the books. What a much needed time out of the house and to be with friends after this past week.

I believe this is a Jayson Woodbridge wine...not sure if it falls under Hundred Acre or is separate, but this was quite nice, though doesn’t have the Hundred Acre velvet/plush palate. Very concentrated. Not quite extracted, but the fruit was still quite dominant at 9-yrs old. I expected some blue fruit out of this as Hundred Acre normally has, but it was all blackberry, licorice, vanilla tobacco, tar and bing cherry cola. Wasn’t overly complex in the line up it was paired with tonight, but a very generous donation none the less.

This wine has changed for the better in the last two years. If you haven’t opened a bottle of the 07 in a while... open it!

Love him or hate him. Jayson Woodbridge fans are in both camps.

07' Fortunate son. Drinking so much better than it was the last time I tried it. These corky 2007's are quite fluid as the years go by. A wine that has at least another 10+ years in it.

@David A Lentine Great minds think alike!
This is actually the bottle that I finished this afternoon. We opened it yesterday. This "baby hundred acres" used to be a truly insane value at $115 a bottle which is what I paid for it. I love it and have six bottles left. Unfortunately, it's a whole different story at $200 a bottle. The competition at that price point is really, really, really intense. I'm not quite sure if the value is there anymore. I'd rather pay a little more and pick up every bottle crafted by it's big brother! LOL

07' Fortunate son. It's been over a year since I've enjoyed a bottle. A one hour decant is enough. This wine is in a great spot right now. I don't see it getting much better. Beautiful bright red fruits, worn leather. The tannins have subsided & the acidity is still holding up quite nicely. Big elegant fruit bomb. Such a crowd pleaser of a wine. I do believe this wine has many great years in front of it. Why wait?
