Forlorn Hope
Mataro
Somehow, someway Forlorn Hope keeps pumping out great stuff. This Mataro (Mourvèdre) is a little less off the wall than some of the other offerings but no less delicious. Ruby red with a light violet rim. Highly perfumed nose of exotic herbs, a ton of sweaty funk, and juicy red fruits. High acidity here with tannins that don’t overpower. Plums, funky, funky earth, blueberries, and caramel dominate on the palate. The spices and meaty flavors really take this to another level.
