Forlorn Hope
C Ghost Mondeuse
This bottle was lost in the cellar for a little while, but I noticed it today while looking for something refreshing and red. It had a tightness of tannin and a stony backdrop against which flavors of mulberry and sour cherry and boysenberry all popped, juicy and bright thanks to excellent acidity. Another rare creature.

Jun 6th, 2020I’m not that experienced with mondeuse but this is an intriguing version. Lots of cherry and aromatic but it’s also a highly grippy wine.

Apr 15th, 2021This is Rorick vineyard mondeuse. The vines according to Matthew’s notes are from lagier Meredith and bien nacido. Dark wine, with a strong grip and blue fruit. Very young of course. I confess to limited experience with this grape. This rendition is an interesting mix of dark, big flavors with a solid structure but in a medium bodied wine.

May 19th, 2018Muted nose on opening. Some blueberry notes. Nice acidity balanced by medium tannins. Medium finish. Lovely.
