This bottle was lost in the cellar for a little while, but I noticed it today while looking for something refreshing and red. It had a tightness of tannin and a stony backdrop against which flavors of mulberry and sour cherry and boysenberry all popped, juicy and bright thanks to excellent acidity. Another rare creature.

This is Rorick vineyard mondeuse. The vines according to Matthew’s notes are from lagier Meredith and bien nacido. Dark wine, with a strong grip and blue fruit. Very young of course. I confess to limited experience with this grape. This rendition is an interesting mix of dark, big flavors with a solid structure but in a medium bodied wine.

Muted nose on opening. Some blueberry notes. Nice acidity balanced by medium tannins. Medium finish. Lovely.

Blossoming blue fruits on the nose of this lovely Mondeuse, with tantalizing acidity balanced by some grippy tannin.
