First vintage ever of Fontodi Dino (named after Giovanni Manetti's father). Aged in amphora. The Manetti family has been amphora for 100s of years and it's exciting to try this wine in their family clay (mined locally in Tuscany)! Truly delicious

Wine dinner at Osteria Mozza Dino 2012. Oh man I love the Dino, I hope it's because I love the taste, not the story. I love both. 100% Italian Syrah (are you kidding me?) vinefied in amphora that the Manetti family makes themselves! And they only make a little bit of it, so it's practically impossible to drink it. And if you can find it, it's not expensive. And it tastes great! For all I know, these vines came over from ancient Persia in the days when Rome was a backwater. At least that's the story I'm going to tell.
