A rich nose with some oaky/vanilla notes, dark cherry, and leather. The same notes exist on the palate but are complemented with a healthy dose of acidity - the cherries turn a little sour, and there is some tart raspberry and cassis in there. The finish is medium with the refreshing acidity always a counterbalance to the rich oak that lingers retronasally. Great with food, also enjoyed on its own. Gotta love value Italian wines!

The 2017 was delightful. It needs to breath for a few minutes, but once it does it’s just lovely. Rich peppery fruity while still on the light side. I’ll be buying this again.
