Flora Springs
All Hallows' Eve Napa Valley Cabernet Franc
Enjoying a bottle of Flora Spring’s Halloween Cab Franc bottling has been a tradition for a few years now, and this one is extra special as it has an owl on it (my wife loves owls 🤷🏼♂️). Happy wife happy life. One of their better Halloween wines I’ve ever had, actually. Aromatically it’s mainly one dimensional. Bing cherries at first, but it’s got an awesome blackberry wrapped cocoa leaf note with the finish. Extremely smooth. Happy Halloween 👻🎃

Nov 1st, 2017This is a delicious Cabernet Franc from Napa Valley.
Full bodied with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate and very fruity with blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, figs, cedar, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, light earth and black pepper.
Spicy long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
Still young and would be better in 5 years.
Rich and extracted. Elegant and fruit forward. Tangy and interesting.
14.2% alcohol by volume.
92 points.

It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a delicious Cabernet Franc from Napa Valley.
Deep purple in color with a purplish rim.
On the nose black plums, cooked cherries, black currants, cedar, licorice, vanilla, milk chocolates, coffee, black pepper, spices and light earth.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, cola, chocolates, light alcohol, sweet caramel and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a very tasty Cabernet Franc. Easy drinking and good as a sipping wine. Very chocolatey and so smooth and delicious.
Drinking very nicely already, although very young at this point. Would be nice to revisit this in 3 years, and will age nicely in the next 7 to 10 years.
Although it is dry, it has a sweet feel, like chocolate covered dried fruits, which makes it very pleasant and interesting.
Good right out of the bottle and much better after an hour in a decanter. Showing nice complexity with a nice, soft mouthfeel. Fruit forward and rich.
Will pair nicely with grilled meats. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses,
100% Cabernet Franc grapes were aged for 18 months in mostly French Oak barrels. A small production of only 250 cases.
14.2% alcohol by volume.
92 points.
$60.

Halloween tradition in our house to enjoy some of Flora Springs’ special Halloween bottles, so this is the 2016 art work.
Being a cab franc just makes us purchase more as we love cab franc. In all honesty, this wine is more about the art work as opposed to the wine itself. That being said, it’s an enjoyable red that has spice box notes, underripe red and black fruit, with a touch of sweetness. Short finish. Not jammy or peppery, just easy drinking.
Happy Halloween! 🎃👻🍷
