Dark Ruby-purple edges, aromas of ripe dark fruits and an array of spices, cigar box and earthy notes. On the palate flavors of black cherry preserves and blackberry, layering in some licorice, leather, tobacco and black pepper spice. Savory tannins, long finish ending with fruit, spice and earthy character.

Dark ruby color with purple highlights. Aromas of blackberry, tar, forest floor and black licorice. Flavors of dark plum, blackberry, dark chocolate, baking spices and black cherry. Long velvety finish, balanced acidity and smooth tannins. Fruit forward and bombastic, but also nicely textured and somewhat savory. Excellent value.

Threw it in the freezer for 10 minutes and then poured through an aerator …

NOSE: plum. Raisin. Cocoa. Some kind of mild dried pepper?

TASTE: ah, plummy, amber herbs … mulberry … moderate tannins … juicy and a little herbaceous. The cocoa on the nose now strikes me more as a herb coffee substitute, like chicory. Good stuff! Decent deal and interesting. 91.
