It's Nero d'Avola, and it's one of my favs. Quite bold, viscous, expressive, well balanced. Dark ruby red. Nose shows multiple fragrances of black cherries, ripe dark plums, smoky blueberries with hits of black pepper, cinnamon and wet earth. Palate reveals nuances of mediterranean spices behind cherry and blackberry. Smooth and silky tannins, refreshing acidity. Great lingering finish with fruity tartness.
Very nice full-bodied wine with good QPR. Ideally matched our osso buco alla milanese.
