Absolutely stunning Cabernet/Merlot blend. Like an imaginary blend of Sassicaia and Margaux with impeccable balance and an intoxicating mix of bright fruit and earth.

A remarkable thing about this is the very high definition of mineral tannins, the tertiary aromas are still forming but the primary and secondary aromas all but gone, leaving bitter and sour taste of acids and tannins still dominating. Defies conventional analysis based on complexity, concentration and balance, instead offers authority, authenticity, uniqueness and unapologetically old-school.

Tasted like first-growth Bordeaux two years ago, now tastes like Burgundy Grand Cru.

Wine of refinement and harmony. The acidity is not those of Nebbiolo/Sangiovese type but in complete balance. This has the refinement of texture and subtle perfume of the very best wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy. It lacks the miraculous transparency of some of the greatest natural wines. 2010 vintage.

Fiorano Rosso was a holy grail wine for me. I have been looking for a bottle for nearly 20 years and had only recently resigned myself to the likelihood that I would never get to try it. Well, I found a bottle and it was worth the wait. I'm not sure any wine justifies a perfect score but if any could this would be it. 44 years old but with extraordinary freshness. Think ripe cherries and tobacco framed by the finest tannins imaginable (to the point of near invisibility) and then quintessential Italian acidity that holds it all together. Utter perfection in a glass.
