Feudo Maccari
Sicilia Nero d'Avola
2012 vintage. Tried this next to a negroamaro to see the differences and at first glance there wasn't much. The nose on this one, once you look for it, does differ. It's black fruits and violets and mushrooms. The palate is heavy tannins with high acidity and anise and blackcurrant and coffee grinds. The finish doesn't linger, but that isn't a detriment here for me. Very nice.

Apr 27th, 2014Rustic, but with plenty of fresh red fruit. Very approachable and enjoyable - this bottle is showing particularly well. No oak
